CraigsMobileList - If you Love Craigslist…

If you love Craigslist, you’ll love CraigsMobileList, a recently updated iPhone app! The developer of this app contacted me about doing this review literally right when I was on CraigsList looking for a new Apple Cinema Display (oh yeah, it will rock). So the CraigsMobileList app is now a staple of my iPhone usage!

CraigsMobileList makes it super easy, easier than using the browser, to find exactly what you’re looking for on CraigsList. Just find your city, then either do a search or a browse through a category. You can even bookmark your searches (super handy).

Once you find what you’re looking for you can read all the details, email the author, and go to the listing in Safari.

And if you haven’t used CraigsList, what are you waiting for? It’s a great way for local exchange and finding stuff even cheaper than ebay! And with CraigsMobileList, you can search anytime, anywhere. In fact I was at a lunch meeting today and just before I got there I checked for any new listings for that Apple display!

GoodRec - Find Restaurants Near You and Review Them

There are a bunch of iPhone apps for finding local businesses, my favorite so far being Maps (built-in app) and Yelp. GoodRec was suggested to me by a GotApps.com reader, and I’m really glad I tried it. GoodRec.com is the company site, but they have designed the iPhone app really well so you actually never have to go there, even to sign up. Point GoodRec!

I love the capability to add a restaurant if its not in their list already, and it shows right on the map immediately after. You can even mark its location by using “My Location” if you’re at the restaurant right there and then. The list of restaurants in GoodRec’s database is a bit slim, with not even a single restaurant here in St. George, UT. What I like about that is that they aren’t trying to have every single restaurant there, so the ones that are there have actually been added by real people, and they’ve either given it a thumbs up, thumbs down, or a neutral rating.

You can also connect with your friends on GoodRec, and see what they recommend, which is a nice social element of it.

The maps display is very nice, and it lets you move around the map unlike some of the other apps out there for local restaurants.

Please try GoodRec, I’d really like to see it grow in numbers. And if you live in Minneapolis or Manhattan, put in some good reviews so I can find somewhere to eat in my travels for the next few weeks! :)
